Further along the promenade is the Ranger Museum. Follow the D.514 in the direction of Pointe du Hoc and Vierville-sur-Mer. You may detour briefly to the South to visit Criqueville-en-Bessin where there is a memorial to the American Rangers in the XIIIth century village church. Return to the D.514 by following the D.204 North towards the coast. At the junction in St. Pierre du Mont, turn left and follow the prominent signs into the Pointe du Hoc car park. The large car park is equipped with restrooms and informative display boards explaining the events at Pointe du Hoc and one board describing the Sentier du Littoral footpath from Vierville to Grandcamp

The route to the memorial from the D.514 is now named Ranger Road. In 1944 it was a narrow road controlled by a guard post halfway along its length. Encircling the battery position were deep, barbed wire fences and minefields that were covered by observation and fire from the numerous, carefully sited inner trenches and outposts. The memorial site occupies an area of over 30 acres. Since 1979 the American Battle Monuments Commission and the Comité De la Pointe Du Hoc have administered it. It is now preserved and maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission following a hand over ceremony from the French Comité de la Pointe du Hoc attended by General Omar Bradley, on 6 June 1979. There is a granite memorial symbolizing a commando dagger atop the German Observation bunker at the Pointe. An inscribed granite plinth bears the following inscription in English and French: TO THE HEROIC RANGER COMMANDOES D 2 RN E 2 RN F2 RN OF THE 116TH INF WHO UNDER THE COMMAND OF COLONEL JAMES E. RUDDER OF THE FIRST AMERICAN DIVISION ATTACKED AND TOOK POSSESSION OF THE POINTE DU HOC.
